My story

Someone told me one day that selling services is good, but selling a story is better. The web for me is a bit more than a sector; it’s a whole world that I have discovered and loved over the past few years, and here is my story.

From hobby to passion.

The beginnings: a kid passionate about computers

Him, that’s me as a kid
I have always had something with computers. Even as a little kid, I was taking apart computer towers, tinkering with printers, and dissecting speakers; I absolutely wanted to understand how it worked
But it was only in high school that I had the click: the code.

Galton's board, which demonstrates polynomial distribution
Galton's board
Code is roughly the way to communicate with the machine, using a specific language. The first one for me was Python, with a beautiful simulation of a Galton board during my Integration course in digital sciences.

At the time, it wasn’t revolutionary, but for me, it was the beginning of an adventure. A true revelation. I understood that with code, all you needed was a computer and time, and I could create.

The call of the web: a limitless playground

After high school, I headed to IUT of Montpellier to deepen this budding hobby. There, I discovered what would become my passion: the web.

The web can be represented as a web where everything is connected, but it’s not quite that. I see the web as a vast wasteland where you can build anything, and everyone can visit. Everything is possible, provided you have the right building blocks and a good vision.

I took the time to explore the behind-the-scenes: how a machine works, how databases are structured, network concepts
In short, everything that might seem boring, but is essential for creating, and it led to some amateur projects, but promising at the time.

Then one fine day, a speaker arrives and talks to us about HTML. I was so hooked that he ended up telling me:

"Not bad, you should sign up on freelance sites to sell what you already know how to do."
That was the click #2. I started freelancing, found my first clients, and discovered the real stakes of the profession. I was still a young developer, my prices were laughable, but I was learning everything: design, SEO, development, hosting, client communication... As a freelancer, you become a one-man band, and that’s a school in itself.

The tool that would change everything

Then came a third decisive turning point: I discovered Symfony.

If you’re not in the field, I’ll need to explain a few terms:

  • PHP is the language that powers the majority of modern websites (+75% even today).
  • A framework is a kit that speeds up development by enforcing good practices.
  • Symfony is one of the most powerful PHP frameworks.

With Symfony, I could finally develop faster and cleaner. But one problem remained

I was still wasting too much time. I was a perfectionist. Each project took me months for a site worth 800€. Raise my prices? Not possible. My clients loved me just for my affordable rates and the quality I offered.

I needed a solution. But before imagining it, I had to put my activity on hold to find an internship. I then joined a Montpellier web agency.

A pause
 but also a lack

There, I learned a lot: project management, new technologies, teamwork... I even had the opportunity to work for major French players, both public and private. To say that I got to know "professional" tools and had the time to understand all their intricacies. Although expensive, these solutions used simply brilliant open-source principles.

But the romance doesn’t last forever, as several things bothered me: too little creative freedom, projects without soul, a mountain of responsibilities
for a salary that doesn’t evolve. And above all
 I missed freelancing.

That’s when I decided to take on a challenge: to create the tool that would allow me to freelance differently. A tool that would incorporate all the good practices I had acquired so far, and that I could modularize to develop while spending much less time writing code, and more time creating a perfect solution for my clients.

My biggest project (For now?)

I launched my project one evening in August 2022, aware of the difficulties I would face before making any profit.

Three years of sleepless nights

Evenings, weekends, lunch breaks, sleepless nights
for over three years, I built the application of my dreams alongside my salaried job. Not NoCode, but LessCode: the goal was not to create an interface where you can only quickly create a website; that already exists, but to create an interface that I could use to ensure the creation of equally professional sites in less time. A kind of custom tool for my creations.

The tool then took shape and became truly functional. I started by creating a few test sites, including my own. There was still a long way to go, but it was time; it could really be used. I decided to break my contract to return to freelancing full-time.

The result: a revolution for the web

Today, my project delivers on its promises, and the results are there: I can create a complete site of impeccable quality in 7 days instead of 6 months.

✹ Each client benefits from the experience accumulated on previous projects. I can finally offer what I have wanted forever: professional sites, created quickly, at an unbeatable price.
